KELLY, DOROTHY IRENE, of Cranston, beloved wife and mother, died peacefully on August 20th, surrounded by her loving sons. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Katherine M. (Ward) Hughes. Dorothy graduated from CCRI, in 1987.

She was an accountant for the State of Rhode Island for many years, retiring from the department of Human Services. She also was a member of the St. Xavier Alumni Association and St. Ann Women's Guild.

She and her husband Thomas J. Kelly Sr. recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Thomas J. Kelly Jr. of Cranston, Michael J. and his wife Deborah of Charlestown, and six grandchildren: Thomas, Patrick (wife Brittany), James, Ryan, Matthew and Sean. She is also survived by her sister Kathleen T. Brannon and sister-in-law Loretta M. Hughes. Dorothy was the sister of the late William F. Hughes Jr and Edward L. Hughes and mother-in-law to the late Mary Elizabeth Kelly.

Her life will be celebrated Sunday from 4-8 pm in the Stapleton Family Funeral Home, 684 Park Avenue, Cranston. Funeral Monday at 8:30 from The Stapleton Family Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Mark Church, 9 Garden Court, Cranston at 10 am. Burial will be at Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy's memory may be made to The Jimmy Fund P.O.
